The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and repair of the hotel’s equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. This includes preventive maintenance, responding to guest requests, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining a high standard of functionality and cleanliness in all areas. Additionally, takes charge of the design and implementation of new projects, including renovations and extensions of structures and/or infrastructures of the hotel
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff to ensure a timely and professional resolution.
Perform repairs on a wide range of hotel equipment and systems, including lighting, heating, air conditioning, water systems, and kitchen equipment.
Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and spare parts, and report shortages to the Manager
Monitor and maintain the physical condition of all areas of the hotel to ensure guest satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Supervise renovation and construction projects, ensuring they meet hotel standards and health and safety regulations.
Keep accurate records of maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Collaborate with housekeeping and other departments to address maintenance-related concerns.
Participate in emergency response duties such as fire alarm drills or power failures.
Suggest improvements for energy efficiency and cost savings
Prepare and submit maintenance reports for management’s use and reference
Requirements
Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent
4+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the hospitality/hotel industry
Registered Engineer with the Board
Knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry
Familiarity with health and safety standards and legal regulations.
Ability to work with hand and power tools and perform physical tasks.
Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or in a team.
Flexible with work hours, including weekends and on-call duties.
